Can building a fire near a Plasma TV be harmful?

I have a 50″ Panasonic Plasma TV. I built a fire in my house and the fireplace is probably 4 feet away from the TV. The opening is pointing away from the TV so the heat isn’t directly hitting the TV. I put my hand on the TV after the fire had been going for approx 45 min and there was no heat change at all. I’m just wondering if there are any known harmfull effects associated with building a fire around the plasma. Thanks for any help.

Would a plasma TV screen ever crack or shatter because of a TV malfunction? I was thinking of buying one, but warranty doesn’t cover accidents. Before I buy one, I want to know if there is any reason that a plasma TV screen would crack. Any kinds of malfunctions in the TV itself, or other natural causes.

As putting yout TV on standby still consumes some energy, I bought an extra socket, so I can turn the TV’s power completely off.( The TV itself can only be put on standby, but not completely off. )
Now is it bad for my Plasma TV (42 inches) if I turn the power compeltely off at night, instead of putting it on standby?

How do you get a Plasma TV set to show a regular tv program so that it’s crisp and clear, and not blurry?

Baston Chowda asked:

We are thinking of getting a Plasma TV, but have held off because every time we’ve seen a friend’s plasma, or just gone in an electronics store….the plasma tv’s are always pixelated and show an un-clear image of a tv show.

I know if we get say ESPN HD, we’ll have a great image. But why is it, that if you watch a regular NBC show on your plasma, it’s a worse image than if you watched it on your Tube tv?

And is there a way so that non-hd shows appear nice and crisp on your plasma? Is the only way to watch and make a 4:3 tv show clear and crisp, by putting those letterhead bars on the side of the plasma tv?

Last question, which gives you the best resolution, Plasma, LCD or DLP? Which is the way to go?

I need to connect my computer to my 42″ plasma television through an LG combination dvd receiver that is connected to the TV.

The receiver has an orange coax in, optical in, s video out, and a set of component outs.

The TV has an audio pc in, and 15 pin pc input, an optical and digital audio out.

My computer has digital audio in and out, a set of component in and s-video, and a tv (cable style) in and out.

What sort of connector do I need to buy?
