I also don’t see too many characters in wheelchairs in prime time TV either. Do you?

Flanker asked:

Just wanting to know when TV shows started showing clips of Next Weeks Episode at the end of Today’s episode? What I mean is Next week on Criminal Minds people are missing who is it.

Don’t remember seeing this much if at all in the 1970’s, 1980’s, or most of the 1990’s. Have TV shows always done this, or is just something they have recently started and if so what year did they start doing this? Is this to get you to not make other arrangements so you will watch the show next week?

How might the computer/internet and TV become the same medium?

I am not interested in opinions of whether this is going to happen. I’m doing a business analysis and consulting service for one of my classes, and this was a comment that I really need to analyze (the fact that TV and computer will be the same medium). I don’t know if I agree or not simply because I’m not exactly sure what the statement is saying. Any help would be great!

How come there is no tv licence in Australia yet they can still have channels without adverts?

There is no tv licence required in Australia but they still have the ABC (channel 2 in Victoria) and channel 0 both without adverts. They can also still produce popular tv shows without licence revenue. I understand Australian tv is supported by government funding. How does this work? Is this a better system then ours?

I’m 15, and I’ve been evaluating different career paths for months. I found that most every career, like a lawyer, doctor, architect, engineer, are ok, but definitely not for me. Even worse is the cost of education towards one of these careers. Anyway, I’m a huge TV fan, from shows like House MD, Fringe, LOST and others. I ♥ JJ Abrams btw, he a big influence of mine. Anyway, I’m interested in tv series creation, like creating shows (fiction). What direction do I go? I’m not looking to be discouraged!
e.g someone like David Shore

How can TV last if commercial breaks on channels keep going up as time goes by?

Dave W asked:

A long time ago a movie was tapped from TV and the breaks had only 2 commercials but now I notice that 8 to 13 are showned. They surely don’t think that people will keep watching TV forever if more continue to be shown in breaks? I’ve already decided to not watch a certain channel anymore because they were showing the inane amount of 13 every break! I couldn’t even watch half the movie because of that.

What is going on with the cable tv announcement that major networks may be taken off soon?

AAGI asked:

I have received and seen news concerning tv problems: major networks might be dropped from our cable tv provider. This would eliminate a lot of football, wrestling, cartoons, and other programs that we cannot do without. They say the problem is over money – for the networks, while the networks say that the cable companies do not want to pay enough for rising programming costs. What can we do about this? This could be a real disaster.

You see these articles about tv shows being canceled because people aren’t watching them. But how do they know exactly how many people are watching that particular show?
