Friend to Fish asked:

I have been using my ps3 on a plasma tv for a while now. I tried to play it in another room on a standard def tv and I could’nt get any picture. Is there anyway I can go back and forth from hi def to standard with out messing anything up? It’s like it only will accept the hi def cable and not the red, white, and yellow cable.

You need to go into the system and select “analog” or what ever is written in the place for red, white and yellow. Hi Def is “digital” so the single yellow plug is replaced with a red, green and blue plugs, + another red and white for sound, these five plugs are called component… HDMI is a component plug, but all connections are inside one plug. First of all, you have to plug it back into your HDTV to change the settings.
Then plug your red, white, yellow cables into your HDTV and plug in the component cables or HDMI. Then start up your PS3 and turn your tv to HDMI or Component.

On your PS3 go to Settings>Display or visual (or whatever it is) then change it to RGB or Whatever its called. Switch your HDTV to the red, yellow, white cables (whatever that input is called) then click yes.
Turn your PS3 off then take it to your other TV then hook it up,

You should be good to go.
    Good Luck [who]

Your ps3 is sending the signal through the hdmi port as this is how it has been setup, below is a step by step on what to do, unfortunately there is no easier way:

    1. Plug your ps3 into the HD tv using the HDMI cable

2.When you are on the XMB scroll left to the SETTINGS, then go down to DISPLAY SETTINGS.

3.Go onto VIDEO OUTUP settings. From here you can see that the ps3 is set to HDMI for this next bit you there is 2 ways the easiest is to plug in you Scart/AV leads to the same tv or another tv at the same time the hdmi cable is in.

    4. You will need to select AV/Scart and press X, you will have 30 seconds to press enter and it will stay like this, if you dont press enter it will change back to HDMI. Save the settings and all is done.

    5. The other way is to scroll down to AV/Scart and select it, then select either RBG or the other one it doesn’t matter, and change. The screen will the go black and stay this way, wait 5seconds after you pressed change and do exactly this

    PRESS LEFT
    PRESS X
    PRESS RIGHT TWICE
    PRESS X
    PRESS DOWN
    PRESS X

You have now changed the settings back to AV/Scart and it will work when you plug it into you tv via AV/Scart

When you play on av you may find you need to also change your sound settings back to AV/Scart this is simple to do and im sure you will be able to do it if not email me @ [who]
